Achievements
Over the past 10 years we have been thrilled to see amazing changes in the children, the parents and attitudes in the community. Here are some of them:- Parents attitudes towards their children have changed positively
- The children have developed their own personalities and gifts
- Some of the children who could not previously do so are now able to walk
- Wheelchairs are now available to those who need them
- Children with speech difficulties now have better communication skills
- The community is increasingly positive and supportive
Here are some inspiring stories:
"What a joy it is to see our children growing up into happy and well adjusted young people. It is such a joy to see how many of them have developed their individual personalities, skills and abilities over the last 10 years. Yes' most of these we have known 10 years - how time flies! The younger ones such as Gloria walking and always so happy to welcome visitors; Mary enjoying going to the local school; Sarah laughing and recognising voices, loves to play round and round the garden, eating solid food. It was such a happy day when we were able to welcome Immaculate back after being home for six months with TB. There is so much more that I could share with you but most of all I want to say 'I am so glad that God has allowed these children to be part of my life'."Val
"I am in love - his name is Colin. At first he was very standoffish, almost like he didn't like me or was angry with me even though we just met. Very much the strong silent type! He is beautiful yet makes horrid faces at times as if he is battling something that no one understands. Something changed and out of nowhere he started hugging me and sitting on my lap. He is slightly enamoured with the colour of my skin and tries to peek under my shirt to see if I'm white throughout. You never know when he will break out in a smile and uncontrolled giggles and then make weird faces. Unfortunately, I am also in love with Joseph. He has the face of an angel and is so loving. He is also very smart. Even though he can't speak he understands and figures out a way to communicate with me. Then there is also Miss Immaculate, Gloria Jude, Agnes, the two Elijahs, and Nicholas.....Susan
Let me tell you about Gloria. We call her ‘our little miracle’.When she first came to Elizabeth House, she was unable to walk as her feet were very badly twisted. The staff and helpers constantly massaged her feet and prayed that God would straighten them to enable her to walk. Gradually her feet began to straighten and she could just about walk on her toes. Prayer and massage continued and now Gloria can put her feet flat on to the ground and is able to walk wearing shoes. Through God’s faithfulness and the dedication of the staff, you can see why we call her ‘our little miracle’. Kathy
